My Experiences

CRMC

Experience | Hospital Volunteer

As a member of the Health Institute, I volunteer at the Community Regional Medical Center in various departments. My junior year, I spent time in the Short Stay and Radiology departments. My senior year, I spent time in the OR department. Spending time in these medical department allowed me to gain some ground level clinical experience by shadowing professionals, performing tasks, and familiarizing myself with medical terms and procedures. the experience I have gained from the volunteer work has opened my mind to pursuing a future in medicine as well as considering the hospitasl as a possible future work enviornment. Once I finish high school, I plan on spending a significant amount of my time volunteering ath the Veteran's Hospital in order to continue my experience in a hospital setting.

Mentorship

Experience | Athletic Training

As an athlete as well as a person who has a deep interest in the medical field, I chose to partake in the Sports Medicine program on campus as well as chose Athletic Training to do my Senior Project on. The class gave me a vast knowledge of human anatomy, as well as techniques and procedures to follow in the event of an athletic related injury or emergency. During my mentorship, I was allowed onto the football field during games where I was equipped with tools to control bleeding, tape athletes, and keep them hydrated. This experience allowed me to look into Athletic Trraining as a career and put more experience under my belt. During my mentorship, I was fortunate enough to wittness my mentor in action with a dislocated shouler, concussions, and the common stingers.
